Broadening ADA Access in the Computer Lab
- Six 24" LCD Displays — ADA (American Disabilities Act) compliant Workstations were added
- Three two-hour ADA Workstations in the Main Lab
- One ADA Workstation in the Training Lab
- 4 types of ADA software were placed on all Workstation computers, making every Workstation in the USU Computer Lab ADA compatible
- ZoomText — a screen magnifier for Microsoft Windows, developed by Ai Squared
- Kurzweil 3000 — provides reading/writing assistance to those who are blind, partially sighted, or have learning disabilities.
- Inspiration — a mind mapping, bubble concepts software.
- Jaws (Job Access With Speech) — a computer screen reader program for Microsoft Windows that allows blind and visually impaired users to read the screen either with a text-to-speech output or by Refreshable Braille display
Printing
- With 10 print stations located within the USU Lab, three were added to accommodate heavy traffic.
- Wireless access to printing was introduced in the spring to allow patrons the ability to print from virtually anywhere outside of the Lab, via either a website, or an app on a cellphone.
- A Satellite Student Union that services students in the Residence Halls has 14 Workstations, 1 print release station, and 3 scanners.
Tech Series
More popular than ever were the Tech Series instructional classes on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Photoshop. With 24 classes offered, students and faculty have demanded more — and we met the demand.
