Stanford Professor Stephen Schneider
has helped draw public attention to the issue
of climate change.
In his lecture, he will explain the impacts of warming temperatures and the effects projected to result in future water shortages, heat waves, and polluted air. However, he believes that with California’s history of being a first-adopter of environmental regulations and incentives, California is in a position to help create solutions to the emerging climate change crisis.
In 1992, Dr. Schneider was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship (known as the genius award) for his ability to interpret and integrate results of global climate research through public lectures, classroom teaching and media appearances.
He has been an advisor to the White House staff for the past 5 U.S. Presidents and has written over 345 scientific papers and several books, one titled Laboratory Earth: The Planetary Gamble We Can’t Afford to Lose.
